HP-UX Patch Designations

Ever wonder what those letters in HP-UX patches stand for.

PHCO – General Command and libraries patches
PHKL – Kernel patches.
PHNE – Networking Patches
PHSS – Sub System patches (Anything else)

Any of these patches can force you to do a reboot. Kernel patches almost always involve a reboot
